Cooking with vegetables day-to-day is my default setting as a home cook, chef and food writer. Not a day passes in this kitchen when I haven’t chopped some vegetable or other to add to my daily cooking. I have never been a fan of hiding vegetables in the food I cook for my children at home, I much prefer that, and from a very early age, my 3 daughters have cooked with me and have been able identify different vegetables, understand where and how various vegetables are grown and encouraged to have their own preferences for one vegetable over another and be able to explain why.
I’m confident in saying I think I’ve had a fairly good success rate with my vegetable cookery endeavours over these years of being a parent, after all 2 of my 3 children are vegetarians, and, if you’re going to be a vegetarian, you’re going to have to get your head around vegetables, all shapes and sizes, right? Hand on heart, follow the seasons, explore the wacky and wonderful world of vegetables with your children at home in your kitchen, talk and taste and you’re winning at life, together.
