Lettuce is one of the most popular salad vegetables. Salanova is a new generation of varieties which offer salad lovers a wide choice of flavours, shapes and colours. With just one cut the lettuce separates into numerous small, ready-to-eat leaves!

Salanova is a product of nature

Historically, lettuce has long been a part of our diet. The wild varieties were bitter and chewy. The Romans even cooked their lettuce, like they cooked endive. Today lettuce breeders, through the process of natural selection, are able to offer a range of varieties with many colours, flavours and leaf types.

There are four main types of Salanova lettuce - butter, oak, batavia and crispies (coral / lollo). In every lettuce "head" there are hundreds of tasty, beautiful baby-sized leaves. The butters and oak leaf types are milder and tender, while the batavia and crispy varieteis are sweeter and crunchy.

Growing

Around the world Salanova crops are grown in greenhouses and outdoors in soil or hydroponics (in water) depending on the grower, the climate and their customer preference. Salanova is sold as whole heads and also as leaves in salad mix pre-packs and ready-to-eat salads. Lettuce, like Salanova takes between 6-8 weeks to grow to its full size after transplanting.
