Hi I’m Fred Kazzi, of Paringi Farms. We are 'organic in conversion' growers and together with my brothers Scott and Daniel we collectively run the marketing arm of our family business, A&M Kazzi & Sons, in Sydney Markets.
Our family has been in the Farming and Marketing of Fresh Produce for three generations. This knowledge that has been passed on to us has enabled growth in both our Marketing and Farming operations.
Paringi is an area between Euston and Mildura, about 10.5 hours west of Sydney in NSW, Australia. We chose this special location because it closely resembles the Mediterranean Climatic zone in Australia .
Paringi Farms is currently under conversion to ‘Australian Certified Organic’ protocols to grow capsicums, melons, pastures, pumpkins, and tomatoes. Our current production area spans over 120 acres with approximately 10 acres of greenhouses and another approximately 10 acres under shade cloth.
The main factor that influenced our decision to grow organically was not only my personal health but the health and well-being of my staff and the challenges faced in conventional agriculture.
Learning how to grow organically, we recognised what ‘sustainability’ really is; learning to look after our natural resources for generations to come. We want to lay the foundations of healthy productive soils and ecosystems, abundant in organic matter that enables plant growth, retains and supplies nutrients water and oxygen to our crops. By managing our soils better, we encourage biological productivity that in turn promotes plant health and nutrient dense vegetables. You will never be able to achieve this in the conventional agricultural way. After all, healthy soils = healthy plants = healthy society.
I’ll keep farming as I enjoy the constant challenges it brings. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
